Wilcox Park is one of the popular parks of Rhode Island. The park was originally belonged to Harriet Wilcox who was the widow of Stephen Wilcox. The park was designed by Warren H Manning in 1898. initially the park had some beautiful collections of plants. But in 1960's efforts were made to develop Wilcox Park. In the past ten years many changes were made in the park. After 1960 the park took the shape of a botanical garden.
Today Wilcox Park has numerous species of plants and trees. The features of the garden include perennial garden, garden of senses, confier garden, herb garden and numerous big trees. The another feature of Wilcox Park is its Wilcox Memorial Fountain which was designed by John Francis Paramino in 1930 and was dedicated in memory of Harriet and Stephen Wilcox. Apart from this there are various other memorials and structures in the garden.
Wilcox Park is operated by Westerly Public Library's Board of Trustees. The park also features a pond. The beautiful flowers, plants and trees makes the park a must visit park in Rhode Island.
