Snake Den State Park received it's name since 10th October, 1969. Initially this park was owned by the Dame Family. The Snake Den State Park and the Dame Farm is of 744 acres of less developed property of State Park. The Snake Den State Park is situated at the center between Route 6 and Greenville Avenue in Johnston. The Snake Den State Park consists of:

However, many developments and improvements are taking place in the to bring in Snake Den State Park a favorite spot for outdoor activities during the weekends. The Snake Den State Park has various objectives which are as follows:
Establishing another State Park by providing extra and alternative recreational opportunities to the general public and it is expected that Snake Den State Park will lessen some of the public pressure off of the other major State Parks in the Providence Metropolitan Area.
Preserving and maintaining valuable open space in the Providence Metropolitan Area.

The 1,100 acre undeveloped property includes walking trails beautiful trees, flowers and plants. Agriculture farm where people work in. In the fall, when flowers bloom in the Snake Den State Park is something worth viewing. The rolling hills and beauty of the forest calls one and all to come and walk on the trails and even lie in the grass. Snake Den State Park is accessible through a small parking lot on Brown Avenue in Johnston. Dame Farm within Snake Den is an agricultural farm controlled by the Dame Family which includes seasonal wagon rides drawn by the horses.
