Brenton Point State Park is situated on Aquidneck Island in the town of Newport in Rhode Island. The park is located off the place named as Ocean Drive, offering huge aspects of the Atlantic Ocean since it meets Narragansett Bay. During the World War II, Brenton Point State Park was considered as an important defense area, since it is the point of entry into the East Passage, allowing access to Newport and Conanicut Island. The park was mainly the property of the Budlong family, who owned a manor house which was a part of this land, and which was captured during the Second World War in order to raise the coastal defense barrage.
