John Carter Brown Library was founded in the year 1846. In the year 1901 this library was shifted to Brown University and since then the library has been functioning as a center of research in history and humanities. Within the house of the library an internationally acknowledged and constantly growing
collection of primary historical sources related to the history of Americas has been carefully kept. Both the parts of America North and South have got their position in the library. Scholars and researchers
from all over the USA and also from the foreign countries have been benefited by this library.

Facilities of John Carter Brown Library:
John Carter Brown Library tries to encourage the researchers of history by offering fellowships and organizing sponsor lectures and conferences. The ever increasing exhibition for the publics and the publication of catalogs and bibliographies and other works are also the major facilities offered by the library.
Time of exhibitions in John Carter Brown Library:
Exhibitions in MacMillan reading room is open to the public 8.30a.m. to 5.00 p.m. From Monday to
Friday. On Saturday this exhibition is open from 9.00a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Another room of exhibition
Simon Bolivar Room is open on request.
Criteria of membership in John Carter Brown Library:
The library has its restricted membership. The membership of the library is restricted to the qualified
scholars doing useful research and who needs the library for the completion of their works. The researchers who wants to use the library must register by submitting at least two forms which will identify them properly and to prove their identity they must submit any prove of their identity like driving license or passport. Students and unaffiliated scholars should submit any written endorsement of their project from any college professor.
